Receiving & Stocking
Inventory control, receiving shipments, and container stocking procedures.
Critical Inventory Rule
No product is to be stocked before being checked into inventory.
Accurate inventory is the foundation of our operations.
Receiving & Inventory Control
- Verify shipment has been checked in before moving product
- Verify all pallet numbers match the Master Inventory List
- Check for missing pallets
- Check for extra pallets
- Report discrepancies to management immediately
- Tent Operator and Field Operator are inventorying together
- Inventory is being completed carefully and accurately (it is not being rushed)
- No product is being stocked before being checked into inventory
- Checked-in product is separated from unchecked product
- Checked-in product is stored on one side of container
- Unchecked product is stored on opposite side of container
- Checked-in and unchecked inventory are not mixed
- Additional deliveries communicated to crew
Stocking Procedures
- Approximately 50% of inventory stocked initially
- Product checked into inventory as it is stocked
- Container worked methodically from one side to the other
- Entire container not inventoried at one time
- All product varieties represented on sales floor
- Excess quantities kept as organized backstock
Tent Setup Instructions
Pre-start checks, technology setup, and preparation before stocking.
Readiness Requirement
These checks must be completed before any product hits the floor to ensure a secure and organized environment.
Pre-Start Checks

- Tent Operator understands crew may be dismissed after inventory is completed

- Cameras installed and recording
- Motion sensors installed and functioning
- Cash Log Binder and merchandising layout available

Merchandising Standards

- Product boxes/cases removed from tables
- Product stocked from pallets onto tables
- Product displayed only on approved tables or display pallets
- No product placed directly on the ground
- Displays clean, organized, and customer ready
Rain Preparedness
- Every table and display pallet has a rain guard assigned
- Rain guards are dry, accessible, and ready for immediate deployment
- 20’ Tents: Rain guards staged down center of tables ("Ride the Middle")
- 30’ Tents & Larger: Low rain risk = stored under tables. Elevated rain risk = staged down center of tables.
- Weather forecast reviewed and radar checked
Important Rain Procedures
Protecting inventory without sacrificing sales.
Rule #1: Protect the Product
Water-damaged inventory costs money.
Protecting inventory protects profits.
Every Table Needs a Rain Guard
Every table and display pallet must have a rain guard assigned to it.
No Rain Guard = No Product
Product must always be displayed on:
- Tables
- Pallets
- Display pallets
Never place product directly on the ground.
Riding the Middle
20’ Wide Tents:
Ride the Middle every day.
Rain guards should remain staged down the center of each table.
30’, 40’, & Larger Tents:
Two approved methods:
- Low Rain Risk: Store rain guards neatly under tables for better product visibility.
- Elevated Rain Risk: Ride the Middle by staging rain guards down the center of each table.
Use this elevated method when:
- High rain chances exist
- Thunderstorms are forecast
- Severe weather is possible
- Storms are visible on radar
Keep Rain Guards Dry
Wet Rain Guards And Fireworks Do Not Mix
Rain guards must remain:
- Dry
- Accessible
- Ready for deployment
If stored under tables, deploy them before they get wet. A wet rain guard can transfer water directly onto inventory.
Know the Difference
Light Rain or Drizzle:
- Stay open
- Keep sidewalls open
- Continue serving customers
Light rain is not a reason to close the tent.
Moderate Rain:
- Consider lowering only the side facing the storm
- Keep remaining sides open when possible
Severe Weather:
Examples: Heavy wind-driven rain, Thunderstorms, Severe weather warnings, Red radar approaching.
When severe weather threatens inventory:
- Lower sidewalls
- Deploy rain guards
- Cover exposed product
- Protect inventory until conditions improve
After the Rain:
- Open sidewalls immediately
- Remove unnecessary coverings
- Restore product visibility
- Resume normal sales
Important Reminder & Summary
Customers Cannot Buy What They Cannot See.
- 20’ Tents = Ride The Middle Daily
- Larger Tents = Under Table Storage During Low Rain Risk
- Larger Tents = Ride The Middle During Elevated Rain Risk
- Keep Rain Guards Dry / Deploy Before They Get Wet

- Severe Weather = Protect The Product
- Rain Ends = Open The Sides
Protect The Product Without Sacrificing Sales.
